TANKS
CONTACT US TODAY TO INQUIRE MORE ABOUT THE SERVICES WE HAVE TO OFFER
At Suburban Well Co we handle all makes and models of pressure tanks. There are many different brands as well as many different styles and designs….all designed to address different needs. In some applications, it does not matter which make or model is used. In many cases, however, it does. Because we are the experts we can tell you if you need an atmospheric tank, bladder tank or diaphragm tank. Each design serves different purposes including interacting correctly with the type of water treatment system you have.
Most tanks require no maintenance and “pre-charged” tanks should never have air pumped into them. Some tanks however, such as atmospheric tanks, do require maintenance. Failure to properly care for and maintain these tanks will eventually result in pump and switch failure. If you are not certain what type of tank you have, feel free to call us and we will help you diagnose the situation.
A common question we often get is: “what size tank do we need?” The answer is the size of the tank depends on a number of factors including the number of people in the home, how many bathrooms and fixtures you have, etc. “Run time” is one of the most important questions to address. Run time is how long your well pump motor runs each time it cycles. You need the proper run time for the cooling of your motor. Each pump and horse power has requirements for a run time. A typical ¾ HP well pump needs to run for one minute to allow water to flow past the motor to cool it. If this ¾ HP pump is a 10 gallon per minute pump, then a 10 gallon draw down tank is needed. This translates to a 40-gallon pre-charged tank. On the other hand, if this ¾ HP pump is a 20 gallon per minute pump then this pump would only run for 30 seconds on a 40-gallon tank. This application or example would require a larger tank or two 40 gallon tanks. Proper sizing of tanks is vital to ensuring proper operation, good pressure and optimal life spam of the equipment. If you are not sure what size tank or pump you have, call us so we can help you properly size the best solution for you and your family.
